Hayward sand filter backwash question

Hello, my 1st post. I will put up my pool info the next time I get on. My question is: While backwashing, Dirty water is being pushed back into my pool from my pump for the 1st few minutes of backwashing, is this normal?

No, that shouldn't occur. Most likely the gasket in your multiport valve needs to be replaced.

Your right. - it sort of hung up the last time I backwashed/filtered and it doesn't turn as smoothly. I didn't connect the dots on that AT ALL. Thanks BK.
