draining, no weep holes - "pop" risk?

Our resurfacing project is finally underway - the contractor started draining the pool while we were at work. They will begin removing the old fiberglass tomorrow.
This is how it looks now (alum slurry at the bottom):

Hubby noticed that water appears to be entering through the crack by the skimmer, and we're hearing some clicking/crackly noises that we're guessing might be the old fiberglass (previous owner had pool lined w/fiberglass about 15 years ago, it's concrete/plaster underneath). Given that they didn't drill any pressure relief holes in the shallow end yet, should we be worried about 'popping'? The pool is at the lowest point of our property. Left a voicemail with the project manager but since it was after 5:30 p.m. he was probably gone for the day

here's a closer view of the skimmer crack:

The risk of floating the pool depends on the ground water level. Hopefully, the contractor has determined the ground water level and has that managed.

There should be a hydrostatic relief valve in the main drain that will allow ground water to enter the pool if the ground water level is above the pool water level.

The water coming from the crack is probably water that has gotten behind some delaminated fiberglass.

If you have any water near your pool, such as a lake, pond etc. that can help you determine your ground water level.

thanks everyone. I talked to the project manager this a.m. and he assured me that they'd drill the holes after they removed the pump they were using to drain the pool. Here's how it looks today after they removed the old fiberglass:

tomorrow they install a new skimmer - one of the leaks that the leak detection company found was behind the skimmer and couldn't be repaired without damaging the skimmer. Since the skimmer was probably the original with a decidedly non-standard skimmer basket, we figure it was due for replacement anyway
