Pebbletec and algae growth

Parents pool got a new Pebbletec resurfacing last year, but have taken over the care/maintenance just this summer.

Does algae have a harder time adhering to a rough uneven gravel surface? Therefore making the pool easier to clean and maintain? Common sense would think so.

I was told that algae growth is easier on traditional flat plaster surfaces since it grows more uniformly with a better grip... making it stronger by forming layers/sheets if left unattended to.

It would be just the opposite. Algae growth is more likely to occur in rough textures because it's harder to keep clean.

As long as you keep your chemicals in check, you should'nt have to worry, either way.

Its easier for algae to stick to rough
surfaces as there is better grip for them!

Just remember to keep your chems in the
right ranges and use a good algaecide as
a good insurance policy.

Not all algae actually sticks to the walls.
