SWG and switch length?

what is the combined length of the typical SWG and the switch together? does the generator require straight pipe right before the unit?

i'm going to do some plumbing and i want to have a straight section where i could later put SWG, so i'm trying to figure out minimum length for that run.

It varies quite a bit from brand to brand. If you have two feet of straight pipe you should be set for just about any of them.
