New Pool PH rising fast

We have a 19K gallon SW pool with grey plaster. Our 2 month old pool requires a quart of muriatic acid every 2 to 3 days in order to keep the PH balanced. I know that new pools require acid to keep balanced but this seems like quite alot.
Is a gallon of acid a week a reasonable amount? When can I expect this to slow down? I have been told that SW pools always require acid is this true?
Thanks in advance.

That amount of acid is only a little high for 2 month old plaster. Fresh plaster requires a lot of acid for the first three or four weeks, and some acid for up to a year.

Some of the acid demand might be from other things. If you post a full set of water test results we might spot something that you could adjust to get the acid demand down.
