With a little too much time on my hands, I was thinking about automating solar heat collection for the pool. I've browsed a bit, including this thread:

In putting together a parts list, I know I'm going to need to add a water temperature sensor

and I just wanted to get a reality check:
So I'm supposed to drill into a perfectly good piece of PVC, and the O-ring and clamp are going to hold the thermistor against a curved piece of pipe, right? Somehow, I'd feel better if I could find a flat section, but I'm trying to get my mind around how this is supposed to work.
