Replacing Lateral's

Hi guys, quick question.
I'm going to be replacing the lateral's on my filter and was wondering
if there are any seals or gaskets I should consider replacing while I have things apart..
Just wanna be prepared while it's apart..

Not normally no. You should inspect the main gasket on the cover and add some lube. Usually it is fine, I wouldn't expect it to need to be replaced.

Ok, got the filter empty and all cleaned out. (wet vac rocks for this).
Laterals are also out. I had tried removing the sand plug hoping to speed things along.
Well it turned but never did want to come out. Tried tightening also and while it seems to
get a little snug it is not what I would call tight. So before I put this thing back together is it
going to leak at that point when under pressure?
Thoughts? Help!

You can test it by filling the tank with water and checking for drips at the sand plug.

While this isn't the same as having it running at 20 psi, or so, a drip would indicate a major leak.

How do the threads look?
