First season using BBB

I opened the pool and everything looks good from the fall closing. I decided to ditch the N2 and use the BBB method and have a Liquidator in the system. The pool in 18 x 4.5, comes out to 8566 gal. Just wanting to make sure on my numbers

I treated the ph first adding 37 oz of borax according to pool calculator

your minimum FC is 5 for CYA of 60. Refer here: pool-school/chlorine_cya_chart_shock

Dose to 7 or 8 and see if you can hold 5 or better as a minimum for 24 hours.

Remember to double check to the PH today. The common PH test reads levels lower than 6.8 as 6.8, so your actual PH might have been lower.

If you refer to the CYA Chlorine chart, you will see your minimum FC level for a CYA of 60 is 5. You NEVER want to go below your "min" to avoid the potential for an algae bloom. You may need to adjust the setting on the liquidator if you are not staying above the "min" level.

She's right of course. You should always keep your FC above the min for your CYA.
