shock amounts with calcium hypochlorite

Why does the pool calculator suggest using so much more shock than on the back of the product. I have Leslie's SuperPowderPro 73% and it says to use 1 lb/13,500 gallons. It is way more than that if I use the suggested level for green algae on the Pool Calculator. Thanks!
