First swimming pool fill, how to balance

Hi
I'm new to the forum and need some help.
Had to drain our pool and refill it (won't go into that long story). Not sure what to add to the water and how much for the new fill. We have a 5000 gallon in ground pool with a sand filter.
Do I have to shock the pool? How much chlorine, acid etc for a 5000 gallon pool do I put in to start?
We're in rather a remote location, otherwise I'd just phone a pool company!

Welcome to the forum :lol: To give you meaningful help, we'll need a starting point....i.e. test results.

Here's a stupid analogy.....If you want to get to Kansas (balanced water), we have to know if you're starting from California or New York.....the directions are different.

Pool School in the upper right hand corner of your screen has some great articles that will help you get started but we'll need those test results to really get you some good advice.
