It is 4" pvc, cemented into the deck. I cleaned it out and there is a steel rod that sits on the bottom. You can see where it is in relation to my skimmer basket.
I thought that may be it too, but I have 4 other sleeves around the deck that have 1 1/2" threaded tops. This one is 4", seems excessive for an umbrella, no?
Where are the other holes? They may be for play accessories around the pool, depending on where they are. Sometimes these can be used with volleyball net poles, swim exercise poles (think of a fishing rod with a tether on the end that attaches to you), or umbrella poles.
There are 2 that look like they could be for a volleyball net, as they are directly across from each other about mid way through the pool, and 2 in the deck by the spa. The fifth one is definitely for an umbrell, its in the floating table.
Yes a basketball sleeve.
The metal bolt you see in the bottom is to make contact with the metal pole of the basketball hoop so it is bonded as part of the pool system for safety.
