muriatic acid w less fumes

Saw a muriatic acid that claimed less fumes (& a scent I think?) etc.

Is it ok?
I know scented bleach is NOT what we want.

You can just buy half-strength Muriatic Acid which is 15% Hydrochloric Acid (instead of 31.45%) as this fumes a lot less. If you can't find any, you can make your own 50/50 diluting with distilled water (wear goggles to protect your eyes). Just remember that "if you're doing what you 'oughta, always add acid to the water". Never add water to concentrated acid as it can splatter from the heat of dilution.

I wouldn't use acid that has perfumes in it.

It's listed as safe for use in pools, but I only use it for cleaning. Since it has an extra ingredient, I choose not to use it for pH control.

chem geek, the acid contains special buffers that greatly reduce fumes. It does not contain any type of scent.

Oh, you're talking about Acid Magic. We've looked into that before. I only commented on the perfumes because of the original post that thought it might have that in it. Acid Magic seems to be mostly Muriatic Acid (possibly in the 15-20% range if one goes by the "< 25%" in the Klean-Strip® Safer Muriatic Acid product), but probably has some organic acid in it as well to make up the difference. Generally we don't want to add extra things like unknown organics to the pool.
