I am planning to replace my 2.5 HP Pentair Challenger pump with a 3/4 HP Pentair Whisperflo pump. Is 3/4 HP enough?

The hot tub has a spillover into the pool. I've got a Polaris pool cleaner. The pool is 9 ft deep at it's deepest, if that matters.
Does your hot tub have jets? that may be the reason the pump was sized the way it was. Tell us more?
Yep. Hot tub has jets. I'm new at this, so I'm not sure what other info is relevant.
Anything that you can think of is relevent. How many jets, what size, any other features?
5 jets in the hot tub. It's about 375 gallons and has a blower. The drain on the hot tub is typically closed and the jets create the spillover into the main pool. There aren't really any other features to mention.
A 3/4 HP pump is extremely unlikely to be enough to get the jets in the hot tub to work correctly. 3/4 HP is plenty for the pool alone, but you need something quite a bit larger to get the jets to function correctly.
To add to what Jason is saying, I"d highly recommend getting a variable speed pump with enough rear-end (2HP, maybe?) to do the job on high but that can be run on low for day to day filtering.
