Pool Step suggestions

Still freezing in New Jersey but looking ahead to opening the pool for 2011. We put the pool in last summer and didn't get too much use since we spent a ton of time on landscaping, patio, and other installation drama. Now our patio is complete and leads up to the pool. We have a set of steps that we purchased with the pool. We cut the ladder on the outside of the pool since the ground outside is higher than the bottom on the inside. The ladder is still a little uneven though. We cannot cut it further because of the step, if we cut above the step it will be too much. Anyone have any suggestions on what we can attach under the step on the inside of the pool to make it level?

Another option would be to buy new steps altogether. I like the wedding cake steps since we have small children. Can anyone suggest a place to get a good deal or offer opinions on these?

If you get wedding cake steps just be careful because they don't allow good flow of water through the step and sometimes you'll get algae growing back there. Taking the steps out at the end of the season should help with this as you can give them a good cleaning before the next season.

If you do end up with wedding cake steps, do a Google Search (bottom left corner) of that there are threads on the subject that give suggestions on how to improve circulation under the steps and ways to help prevent algae growth in them. Good luck whatever u decide! :)
