So far so good, the pool walls are installed and the concrete job is done.

Pool builder has been great so far; smart, fast and very accomodating.

My pool is small and simple, nothing like the 60K+ gunite pools I see other members buildings. Still, there's so many little things you have to think of, so many decisions you have to make.

I think ideally you should be there all the time during construction, but that's not always possible.

The next best thing I found was to write down little lists of instructions and comments that I leave for the builder in the morning. Seems to be working so far.

It seems like your builder is stayin at your job,not jumping around from job to job.
That is a bouns for you. There are many tuff decisions, did you happen to upgrade
your lights to rainbows? Good Luck with the rest of the build!

little off topic, do you know if the aqua Genie, can be added to a pool that is already built, i have red about them and really like them, do you have regular returns or just the little squrter from the skimmer, let us know how it works.

No, my GF didn't want any lights at all. After much debating I got her to agree on the 650$ for the regular lights, but there's no way I could get her to 1500+ for the rainbow...

I think the Aqua Genie is larger than a regular skimmer so I'm not sure it would fit with your existing holes.

It's designed to work with the integrated rectangular return, which is molded to direct the flow of the water in many directions in the pool. I guess that to replace your 2 skimmers with Aquagenies, you would have to dedirect 2 of your returns to them. This may or may not be a big deal.

If the pool builder hasn't completed the backfilling when I get back home, I'll take a few close up pictures of the Aqua-Genie installation for you.

ok thanks for the info on the aqua, i saw them online about 6 months ago when deciding to move or remodel our existing house which of corse had to have a pool, and we decided to move and found one with a pool, i really liked the aqua, i will look in to it more, i have a return right next to each skimmer, so it might not be so bad, we will see, again thanks.

btw pool looks great, i like the shape.

The pool installation is now completed !

We're really happy with the outcome. Everything went smoothly and as planned.

Now on to the landscaping... this will wait until spring though...

And it could have been faster, there was nobody on site for a whole week after the digging. In terms of full work days, it was a 6 days affair with 3 to 8 men on site:

    1 day - Digging
1 day - Pool walls installation
    1 day - Concrete bottom
    1 day - Vinyl installation / water / plumbing
1 day - Finish up plumbing, electricity and equipment installation
    1 day - Concrete sidewalk

    Thanks. We really like it.

We had it up to 81 degrees today, so we spent an hour in it with the kids after diner. They loved it. It's sad we'll soon have to close it for the winter though...

It probably was a good decision to build it at the end of the season. I wasn't able to negotiate the price down by much, but I feel that I got a better job done as the installers were not super busy and had enough time to do the job right.
