Heater turns on randomly - Pentair 400K

I had a new Pentair MasterTemp 400K heater installed for my pool/spa the summer. Twice now, the heater has automatically started itself and begun to heat the pool. The temperature readout shows 300 (or something like that), which is different than the programmed temperature of 100.

Any idea why it was be automatically starting itself?

If the temperature display reads 300, something is broken. That sounds like a lose connection on the temperature sensor wiring, though there are a number of other possibilities. Do you have any kind of automation system or remote control?
