Muriatic acid question

I'm using the Pool Calc app on my iPod and in the setup section it asks me to specify the acid strength. It defaults to 31.34%. Is this typical for pool store acid in CA? The bottles I bought from Leslie's don't give any strength information on the box or the label. The other choices are 15.7%, 28.3% and 34.6%. Can anyone confirm what strength acid I'm using or how I can determine it?

That's pretty standard concentration as far as I can tell. I used to buy it at Leslies, but I found a cheaper source with returnable jugs. It has to say somewhere on the box or the bottle. But anyway, here's how you can tell: add what poolcalulator tells you, run the pump for an hour or so and recheck pH. If it went down the right amount, you have the right concentration. Assuming you have the volume correct....

Leslie's Muriatic Acid, as shown here, has the concentration of Hydrochloric Acid on the box. This link gives you access to the MSDS which gives a concentration of 25-36 and is most likely to be 31.45% as that is standard.

I get mine at wharehouse pool supply, 4 gallons for 19.99. Home depot sells 2 gallons for 11.99.
