I have heard that I may not need to drain the pool for the winter. The guy I bought our AGP from said he just covered the skimmer and put the plug in the return. He said it worked for him for 3 years. I am leary about doing this because of the Ice I expect living in Michigan. He also lived in Michigan so maybe it is not an issue. Ideas? Opinions?

What type of ag pool? Temporary? Permanently installed AGP's should be properly winterized and covered in areas that experience freezing conditions.
I have a permanent 27' AG pool. And I do fully expect ice when the winter hits, as is typical in Michigan. I am not sure how the guy who use to own this pool accomplished the feat of not draining the pool without issues. I had always read to drain it 6 inches below the skimmer.
OK...now that we have that cleared up (BTW this would be a good time to add your pool details to your sig line :lol: )
Draining is an option, but it is good practice to lower the water below skimmer level for an added level of protection.
