Our manual vacuuming system(skimmer, hose & sweeper) lets debris return to pool as I am vacuuming. Hose is brand new, filters cleaned (can't see any tears), not sure how well cartridge is sealing. This Tri-clops cartridge is about 15 years old, filter media may be same age. Bought house 1 year ago and pool seems to be falling apart daily. Planned on just buying new media next year, but if filter is worn out, will get whole new system. Plan on buying new 2 speed pump as well. Any ideas on the debris problem? Thanks!

Most likely the cartridges aren't sealing well and they're bypassing the stuff. It's hard to tell when they're seating well but you can take some lube and lube the sealing surfaces ad then put the filter back together and run it a little while then take it back apart. If all the lube is cleaned off the sealing surface in a place or two it means it leaking by.
Thanks, dave will check that out! I assume if it is leaking we need to replace entire filter?
Not necessarily. It could be that the cartridges were just not seating correctly. I could be the wrong cartridges were bought for it in the past.
