Leak in pump filter cover.

Ok, I opened the pump filter cover to get the leaves out after vacuuming and now the cover is leaking.
The o-ring fell off when I opened it, but I replaced it. I tried taking it off and putting it on again and it still is dripping when the pump is off. New to this pool stuff--What's the trick?
It's a doughboy with a clear upright cover.

Welcome to the forum. :-D Try seating the O-ring again. Look for debris under the ring and look for a good fit.

If that fails, you can lube it with silicone lube.

If that fails, it likely needs replacing.
