Inground vs above ground

I have been told the pool I have is an inground by one pool store and a and an above pool by an other store.
The pool is 12x24x4 the pool itself is in the ground. The pump is an above ground pump (Hayward super pump self primeing) located about 1' above the water level. The piping is a total 2.5' above the water level.
It sounds like the pump is above ground and the pool is an inground.
Can anybody clarify what the type is? I am contemplating converting to salt water.

Pool type makes no difference in converting to salt water chlorine generation. Size is all that matters. :-D
Why do you think you need to know the type?

Is it rectangle or oval?
Does it have a deep end?
Do you know the volume in gallons?

I get about 7500 gallons but I'm always conservative on volume estimates. Since it's inground you're not going to be able to use a return jet cell so then it really doesn't matter what they call it.

It'll most likely be marketed as an above ground model due to the size of the pool.

What models are you looking at?
