Removing Diving Board when Closing?

First keep in kind I live in MN. Is it really necessary to remove the diving board when closing the pool? It's a pain and I have noticed other pool owners do not.

I am in Maryland, never removed the diving board. I have seen diving board winter covers, never used one of those either. Here are some (I have no experience with this company).

I remove them if I can and lube the bolts with anti seize or lithium grease. The cover sounds like a good alternative

I remove mine. I have enough trouble with the stand rusting as it is. The boards are too expensive to expose them to unnecessary weathering IMO.

I cut some short CPVC sections to go over the bolts after I grease them to help avoid tripping on them.

I dont remove any of my boards, unless homeowners wants it off, but there are only a few that ask me.

The black board covers are nice...

I take mine off. 5 minutes at most to remove and put back on when season gets close again.
It's a piece of mind for me. Now my friends father's never removes his. It's pretty nasty from years of being exposed to the elements.

I never remove mine. We just put a cover on it.
