Problem with DE Filter

I went on vacation a couple weeks ago and pool turned green with algae. I finally cleared it up after about 5 days. Now when I start the filter, it shoots green through the jet for about 30 seconds. I have a hayward DE Filter, in ground pool. I took the filter out and cleaned it all off and added DE back to the filter. This morning I turn the filter on and it shot the dirty green through the jet again. Any suggestion to help me out with this situation? Thank You!

Sounds to me like you didn't fully complete the shock process.
Did you pass the OCLT (Overnight Chlorine Loss Test) outlined in Pool School?
Which test kit do you have?
What are your test results?
pH
FC
CC
TA
CH
CYA

Have you closely inspected the grids/fingers in the filter to make sure there are no tears in them?

I'm thinking that there's algae growing in the filter/plumbing and when you shut the pump off it gets to blooming and then when you fire it back up it shoots out the return.
