That is a question I had this evening when I started the shock process. Should I turn on the fountain or not? Don't we need to flush out whatever might be hiding inside and outside in the fountain area so any accumulated debri or algae can be washed into the pool? Or will the high level of chlorine destroy the equipment? Same question for those who have solar heating panels for their pools.
When you shock, do you turn on the fountain too?

You need to run it at least a few hours during the shock process to ensure nothing is hiding in the piping, etc.
I'd probably run it toward the end when you're holding high FC longer.
