Ever heard of ATF as a deck sealer?

This friend of my husband's says he read somewhere that putting automatic transmission fluid on your deck works better than Thompson's water seal for sealing and waterproofing. The guy tried it and has been telling Russ how great it has worked. Anyone here ever heard of it?

Don't know about as a deck sealer....

But back in the days when we put 3-4 transmissions in my truck in a day trying to find a good one I was basically water proof for a week or so from the tranny fluid. It is flammable though so I'd be concerned about that aspect of it.
