Pool Heater Covers

Does anyone have any views on whether these extend the life of the pool heater?

I've just had the pool heater replaced. The original was 10 yrs old and the frame rusted out. The actual water channels were fine, it wasn't leaking, but it's whole skeleton had rusted out. I live in Houston, so quite humid and subject to torrential downpours, especially during summer. The new heater cost 2300 dollars so if I can prolong it's life with a cover, then I'll get one
Thanks

I store it in the garage in the winter. Most heating and cooling guys will tell ya to not use the covers as they will hold in more moisture than they keep out. I don't use one on my AC compresser either for that same reason.

Thanks for the info. Not knowing one way or the other on these covers, I would have guessed they may hold moisture also. I think you've confirmed my gut feeling.

Thanks and regards
Chris
