Intex 637R pump, how to replumb for Sch 40 PVC and vavles

I'm wanting to replumb my Intex 637R pump from the 1 1/4" tubing to Sch 40 PVC and add some ball valves for when I change the filter. Does anyone know what type of fitting I need on the pool? I saw this post and know it's possible. It also looks like he's got something else on the smaller pump (637R), but can't tell what. I've PM'ed him and no response
