pumps and the old solar question....?

Hi All

have looked thru some previous posts and web searches and wondered if anyone has successfully run a pool pump from solar? Is it easy to do, cost effective etc?

While it is certainly possible to build or buy a system that powers your pool pump with solar power, it is not normally cost effective, even at extremely high electrical rates. To make it cost effective you either need to find some of the components for free, be getting massive rebates on installing solar power, or be in an area where utility power is not readily available.
