I live in Central NY, near Syracuse, and was wondering what a good CYA level is for me. My CYA has been a bit high, 60-70ppm, and I've been whittling it down during the summer (the 2.5" of rain we had this morning should help.) We have a solar cover, and sunshine is at a premium here. I use bleach as a chlorine source, and test with the TF-100. Thanks in advance.

50-60 might work out just fine for you if it has full sun all day. Does for me. I lose 3-3.5 ppm FC daily.
I would aim for CYA around 50. Upstate NY doesn't get nearly as much sunlight as Texas.
Yes, we appreciate every sunny day here for sure. Definitely not as much sun up here as we'd like. Our pool does get full sun when it is shining. We have the cover on a lot and the pool doesn't get too much use. I've been losing approx. 2 ppm/day of FC. The 50 number for CYA sounds good to me. Thanks all.
Yeah, your FC loss might increase just a tad bit, but I'm with you and Jason, I'd let it come on down to 50ppm.
