Were going in for permits tomorrow and the install of my fiberglass pool should start next week. My question is has anyone use a sod cutter to remove the sod beforehand to replant in the areas that get tore up from the heavy equipment? If so how long can you keep it out of the ground before it dies and what is the best way to store it?

I'm a bit of a lawn freak so my grass is very lush and thick so I hate to just toss it if it can be saved.

It's done all the time around here. We have lots of sod farms. They cut it and stack it on pallets. It can survive a little while like that but if it going to have to be up for more than a week you should lay it out on a tarp and keep it watered. Unless you have a huge place to preserve it you're probably better off donating it to a friend that needs some sod.
