Stabilizer dry vs Liquid, effects on SWG ? (damages SWG)

I went to a Leslies Pool store to get some dry Stabilizer (CYA). The employee told me not to use dry CYA in a pool with a SWG. The dry CYA damages the SWG. He suggested I buy the liquid CYA. I have used the liquid CYA before for small adjustments and for its convenience but it cost twice as much.

Is there any truth that the old school dry CYA is damaging SWG?
