How to add CYA to an Intex Pool?

I'm new here and been reading all the very helpful info. I've read many threads, but, haven't found the answer to my question.

I need to add CYA to my pool. But, I learned from reading thread that just pouring the granules in the pool is bad. Read that you could put it in the surface skimmer, also read that you could put it in a sock(not sure what kind of sock)? I ended up putting it in an old sock and placing on a step in my pool. My filter is running...read to leave filter on for at least 24 hours whenever adding anything to the pool.

My question is...
Can I pour the granules directly into the surface skimmer? Not sure if it works the same for Intex pools.

The sock method is to put it in a sock and hang it in front of a return. You can massage it periodically to help the process along. It can take up to a week to show up on a test.
