Need a replacement pump - what should I get? 24' AGP

I have a 24' AGP Doughboy - 13500 gallons. It has all the original equipment that came with it (it was one year old when we bought the house). The pump motor died last year and we had it repaired locally. It died again, so I am looking at replacements. I will probably have it repaired, if possible, to keep as a back up. It is a 1 HP Powerline single speed. The label has the Doughboy emblem on it as well.

What would be a good replacement? Should I consider a 2-speed pump?

Hayward and Pentair both make 2 speeds that are very popular. 2 speed pumps can save money in the long run. You can run it on low for daily circulation and kick it up to high to vacuum. A 1 hp 2 speed should fit your needs.
