Shocking my pool

Would it help to keep the solar blanket on while shocking the pool? Will this reduce the amount of chlorine lost to sunlight?

No. The sunlight helps rid the pool of CC's....the pool needs to breathe.

Prolonged exposure to high FC levels is likely not good for the solar cover....I don't know that a few days is "prolonged" but I wouldn't do it.

It's usually not recommended to keep the solar cover on while shocking. The high chlorine level could shorten the life of it and it won't allow the sun to burn off the CC's. So the little bit of benefit isn't usually worth the tradeoff.

Ok, pool has been shocked. The overnight FC loss test was .5

pH 7.5
t/a 120
cya assuming 30 (added 8 lbs stabilizer)

I am leaving my swg off until i can clean the cell.

Question: At what level is it safe to swim?
Just allow some chlorine to burn off today and keep it in range?
Should I go ahead and add the rest of my stabilizer now?

Swim if FC is between minimum and shock level based on your CYA level. So, since you are below shock level, you can swim now :-D
