CyA is at 0 ?????

Welcome to TFP!

You are going to have to buy stabilizer. You will need enough to get you to between 30 and 50 ppm of CYA. Without CYA, your chlorine will be completely gone from your water in about 30 minutes.

You don't have to spend an arm and a leg. Wal-Mart usually sells HTH branded CYA. For your size pool too, it's only going to take about 30 ounces to get you to 40.

Try the Temporary Pool Guide as well. Good information in there for your type of pool.

By the way, is your TA actually 80? I can't see getting 8 as a result for that test.

Okay good. Just wanted to double check on that TA.

The powder and the liquid do equivalent jobs. The liquid dissolves immediately but is much more expensive than the powder. The powder dissolves very slowly, over the course of several days, but is much cheaper. Most here use the powder. We add it by either predissolving it (hard to do) in warm water and then adding it, or by putting the powder in a sock or a knee-high stocking and hanging it in front of a return jet. You don't want to have the powder sitting on the bottom of the pool because it's not good for the surfaces to sit in powdered form like that.
