Hayward DE Filter, In-Line Chlorinator and Pump Matching

Does anyone know if I can use a 1.5 HP (single speed) pump with a Hayward EC 40 DE Filter and also use an in-line chlorinator after the filter?

There many different models of 1½ hp pumps and they have different flow curves. The plumbing needs to be considered too. We need more info in order to give good info. My initial feeling is that a 1½ hp pump is too big but the info you proivide will let us figure better,
