Aqua Genie Adjustments? Newbie Question

We've just bought a house with an existing in-ground pool and an Aqua Genie Skimmer. The incoming water jet shoots horizontally, just below the surface. I read that it should pointing down at about 45 degrees. How do I adjust this?

Below the skimmer mouth is a slotted faceplate held in by 6 stainless screws. It may be upside down. Turn off the pump and flip it. The screw holes are symmetrically placed. Don't over tighten either please.
