Calcium Deposits on my ladder

Just got a new house last year with a pool. The ladder has these white deposits on them that look like little beads. I'm assuming they are calcium since last year my CH was 210 and they were there when I got the house, so no telling how long they have been there.

This year I got a new liner and my CH is 60.

What is the best way to get rid of them? I have a AGP, so my ladder is removable. Do I use CLR or a sander?

I would try muriatic acid if you're comfortable using it.

There are several precautions to remember so post back if you're not familiar with it's use.

I've never used it before or know where to get it. I got the PH Down to lower my PH because I figured it was a safer alternative than acid. When I hear acid I get a mental picture of Harvey Two-Face.

You'll probably be able to remove most of it mechanically.......just a scrub brush and some Comet or Ajax.

It'll take a little more elbow grease and may not get it all but give it a try.

I was thinking something along those lines. Just wondering if there was another way I might have missed or if somebody else had a similar problem and what they did to correct it.
