Adding X-10, Zwave or other remote controllable switches

I would like to make it more convenient to turn my pump on/off manually. I have a simple switch before the power hits the timer. Has anyone ever swapped this out with an X-10 or a Zwave switch, allowing remote switching. I realize I would have to leave the throw switch on the timer "on" all the time and have the switch on a timer.

I have attached a pic, the switch is located right under the timer box.

You could add such a control, but you need to have the mechanical switch there as well. Code and common sense call for a service disconnect in sight of the pump. I'm not sure a timer box qualifies.

Yes i had thought of that, and figured I could just leave the existing mechanical switch in place and put the remote switch in between it, and the timer.
