duct tape to patch holes in winter cover?

Hello,
I've got many many holes in my winter cover, big ones in about 4 inches diameter. Can I use duct tape to patch these holes? Anyone used duct tape for this?
And I am wondering what caused these many holes. I just bought the house at the beginning of this year. Never had a pool before. I am guessing rodents or squirrels bite those holes. Any idea?

A waterbag tarp might be. Safety covers should be sent to the manf. for rodent holes. Usually it's mice or rats. Storing the cover in a large, lidded, trash can with wheels or deck box work best.

I don't even know who the manufacturer is. I think the holes were bitten out by rodents, if they were, when the cover was out covering the pool. I guess I will just use duct tape since there were so many holes that even buying those patches from pool stores is gonna be too expensive.

I've used duct tape on my winter cover. Put on both sides of the cover.
