I am leaking water from my backwash port, even as the filter is in "filtering" mode? Why would this be occurring and what can I do stop it. I am losing a lot of water. Thanks

There must be something wrong with your main valve. First make sure it is in the right position. Assuming there is nothing obvious out of place then next place to look is the spider gasket on a multi-port valve or the O-rings on a push/pull valve.
Your multidirectional valve is probably broken or misaligned.
You can open up the filter and look, but you'll probably have to replace it.

When my O ring on pump goes bad-
It will allow water to leak out - after backwashing
It is like the backwash doesn't turn off
I can go a summer, with one o ring on my chlorinator-
Then I may need to change it 3 times in 6 weeks...
