    Why is it called a skimmer WEIR door?

    Originally I thought the tech had a lisp (lol) but it is a Weir door - where did the name come from?

    A weir is a type of dam where the water flows over the dam, typically used to raise the water level of streams. For more info see the Wikipedia entry.
