lost over 6 lbs of cya

I started testing my cya last monday and found out it was 30ppm, so I put in 6 lbs 11 ounces of stabilizer (sock method) tonight i tested it and its 30ppm. So I lost everything to back washing, oh i just remembered we had a terrible storm last night and i had to empty gallons of water.

I need to start over, the ironic thing is the water is crystal clear. My chlorine is only 2 ppm. Do I need to shock if the water is looking good or just add some to bring it up?

Just add some to bring it up, then do an overnight test.

You shouldn't have to shock necessarily. If your CC is .5 or higher or the FC isn't holding overnight, then you should probably shock.
