I started using a new cellulose based ingredient instead of DE (environmentally friendlier and less bulky) but it seems like the pressure raises faster and need to backwash more often as much as every other week. Any experience with this?

A couple of people have reported the same thing. Usually the rapid pressure rise stops after several cycles when the filter finally gets all the really small particles out of the water. It is also possible to get a similar effect if you are using too much cellulose, so double check the amount to use directions on the package.
