The real skimmer socks are no different have used them too - panty hose is cheaper

Here I have to disagree with you. I have used both also and the real skimmer socks have a much finer fabric (even when compared to a double layer of pantyhose or knee highs) and catch a LOT more stuff, especially the finer stuff that seems to make cleaning a cart more of a chore.

Ditto on the Blaster 1000. We got one this weekend and it worked as advertised. Easy to use and works well. You need good water pressure to use it.
