Hayward EC75a Bump Handle Movement Question

Hello All,

I was looking at my newly just purchased a Hayward EC75a DE filter and notice that the bump handle only moves a couple of inches up and down. Can anyone tell me what the normal length of movement should be for the handle?

1) Only bump it when the pump is off

2) That is the normal range. The grid fingers and frame are seated in a rubber diaphragm. The rod attached to the handle is attached to the frame. The diaphragm will only move so much, but that's all it needs to shake the DE loose.
