I have some spots under the liner close to the wall that the sand is washing out. We did a dye deal to try an find a leak but no dice. Here is what I was thinking. The bottom of the pool sucks. You can tell its not as level as it should be. It was not installed by a good company(out of business). I was going to drain it down low enough to fix the sand washout. But decided to wait till winter an drain it and fix the bottom. Now I have been told that if i drain it I will have to replace the liner. Is this correct? That is why I was going to wait.

How old is your liner? The older the liner the more likely it won't survive the process.
The general rule is that if the liner is more than 2 years old it likely won't stretch back into place without tearing. Especially if you try doing in cold weather.
