new pool owner old pool what is going on with these numbers

ok, 25,000 gallon above ground pool. Brand new sand filter. Been in the 90's here all week.

tc-put 5 drops of oto in tester water turned dark yellow almost brown with little red specks in it.
cya-60
ta-put in 100 drops would not turn red just lite yellow color
ph-7.2

What is going on! tested water 3 days ago with these results

ta-350
ph-7.5
then
Added 7 pounds cya. ph minus, 8 gallons shock

At high clorine levels the TA test starts blue and then turns yellow when you have added enough drops, instead of the usual green to red.

thanks you! now what about the TC? is it safe to swim?

Depending on what strength of shock you used, your FC level might have gone up by anything from 17 to 40. The OTO test is not designed to handle anything nearly that high so it looks kind of wierd.

There are differences of opinion on how safe it is to swim at very high chlorine levels. I would swim but be sure to rinse off yourself and your bathing suit afterwards. Others disagree.
