Hey guys, new to the whole pool thing (came with the house we bought). To make a long story short, I was seeing a good bit of sand in the discharge hole in the yard so I figured something was broken inside so I took the top off of the filter and the top elbow pipe was broken off at the threads and buried in the sand. I can get a new one for about $30, but can't figure how to get it to go on. I tried with the old broken one and the bottom pipe (which is exactly the same as the top one) interferes with turning the top one. Someone must know a trick how to do this...please HELP!

Should be, but if you look at the diagram, the pipes are so close that the elbow from the top won't allow you to turn it as it hits the bottom one. Does this make sense?
Unthread the bulkhead. Set the pipe and thread the bulkhead to it, not the other way around.
