My pool numbers: advice

New to this.

Here are my numbers with the TFT kit.

FC 0.5
CC 2.0
PH 8.2
CYA 30
TA 300
temp 68 degrees
Test kit was short one bottle so I couldn't do the calcium hardness test.

I shocked the pool at 11:50 am. I now have to leave for a few hours. What next?

A bit concerned about ph and alkalinity and obviously the CC. BTW the water is crystal clear and the pool has no leaves, etc. Walls and floor are clean.

You should lower the PH to between 7.0 and 7.2. Do this when the FC level is below 10. Then go back to shocking.

Shocking is a process, not something you do and it is over. You need to keep adding chlorine regularly until the CC level comes down to 0.5 or lower. See How to Shock Your Pool in Pool School.

1. Let your FC come back down to less than 10ppm.

2. Lower your pH into the mid 7's

3. Shock your pool. Shock it according to the process in Pool School. Shocking occurs over period of time and is not a one time dosage. You are finished shocking when....

your water is crystal clear
you do not have more than .5 CC's
you do not lose more than 1.0FFC overnight
